Trick-Or-Treater Ghost Sticker

Trick or Treat Ghost

In the spirit of spooky season, I have designed a new sticker. It’s a trick-or-treater dressed in the classic ghost costume. I drew it in Procreate after importing a graphite drawing from my sketchbook.

I Love Zines Logo

I designed a logo for a new website. I Love Zines is Billy McCall's band new distro for zines. Distros are like wholesale outlets for zines. They aggregate issues from many different authors so book shops and news stands can deal with one seller rather than many individual publishers.

I sent Billy some quick rough sketches, he latched on to this one instantly. His only note was could the reader could be less generic, and thus, a magenta faux-hawk was born.

Skull & Bones Sticker

Skull & Bones Sticker on RedBubble
Skull & Bones

This week I uploaded a new design to my RedBubble sticker shop; Skull & Bones. The image is available as a sticker, a button or a magnet. I upload designs for my own use but make them public in case anyone else wants one. All the products on RedBubble are grossly overpriced. Much like Spotify and YouTube, RedBubble takes a huge cut off the top, leaving the creators mere pennies.

Postcard Project

I've been working on a new batch of handmade postcards. While it's going well, translating loose ideas into a physical form is never as straightforward as it seems. No matter how much I plan ahead, the results are always mixed. Some cards turn out great, some are just okay, and a few head straight to the recycling bin.

This batch of cards is a mix of college, drawing and painting. I normally use acrylic binder as glue, but this time I am testing out wheat paste. More on that later.

Behind the Zines, Issue 20

Sometimes, I help out with Billy McCall's Behind the Zines. I write, layout articles or whatever I am able to do.

For Issue 20, I also provided an illustration. I was asked to draw Todd Taylor and Sean Carswell, the founders and publishers of Razorcake, browsing magizines inside a 7-Eleven.

Billy sent photos of Todd and Sean and asked that I age them back about 15 years to fit the time of the article. It was right after I put pencil to paper that I remembered; Oh right, I can't even draw hands! So getting a likeness, of now or then, is a pipe dream. I did my best and Billy seems to be okay with the result.

Turns out, I have been reading Razorcake for nearly as long as it has been around. So I am happy to have even a vague connection to it.
